The data storage of RAID is hard drive which should have high stability.
The SCSI hard drives are recommended. Hard drive may be failure eventually. User should have some basic knowledge to prevent two or more than two hard drives failing at the same time. Using RAID Level 5 as an example, we suggest users install 5 hard drives with different brand and mode and assemble it from the lowest volume. The reason is the quality and lifespan of same hard drive will be similar; therefore, the hard drives may fail one after another in the same period of time.
| Notice: |
Before RAID used, label each hard drive to avoid mixing up the order of HDD if removal is necessary. |
Quick Setup: install automatically (simple)
Manual Setup: (complicated)
| 1. |
Add Disk。 |
| 2. |
Choose RAID Level (0, 1, or 5)。 |
| 3. |
Complete the process from 1% to 100% that will clear all the data in the hard drive (Low Level Format). The main purpose of it is to see if there is any defect in each hard drive。 |
| 4. |
Set the LUN (Logical Unit Number)。 |
| 5. |
Save Config and Restart。 |
It could work normally when the LED shows RAID Ready。
Set the Console before use﹕
 |
The purpose of changing Auto Rebuild to No Auto Rebuild is for the user to control each step manually. There is something you can do when Rebuild Failure happened。 |
 |
Set the beep sound alarm the administrator 。 |
All the changes won’t be effected until Save AND Restart。
Notice: Don't RAID Backup Solution ,so must to Backup。
Check the reasons of failure first when the alarm occurred
。
 |
The rest of the hard drives should be work normally if there is only one hard drive failed in RAID 5. Backup the data immediately, in case another hard drive failed continuously. Do not Hot Swap or change the hard drives when the RAID is not working normally. Change the hard drives after backup ready。 |
 |
Use Manual mode when you doing Rebuild。 |
 |
Do not delete RAID or Config。 |
 |
Do not Initialize or recreate RAID when RAID not ready; otherwise data would be deleted completely。 |
 |
Save and Restart should be done after the correct sequence of the hard drive is confirmed when the hard drive have been removed。 |
 |
Make sure what you have done before you click “Save or Not” when the Change Config occurred。 |
The failure of RAID, Array, NAS, and SAN of Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003, NTFS, MAC, Novell, Linux, UNIX, and FreeBSD are all available at LINWEI。 |
